This picture of Matthew was taken at the zoo a few weeks ago - Aunt Meagan took it and it turned out absolutely PERFECT!!! Matthew was very interested in what the lion water fountain was...I think it would have been an even bigger hit if he knew there was water involved! We never would have been able to get him away from it!

New and Wonderful Things!
Matthew is changing so much every day! Today we were watching PBS and he actually was interacting and following along with what was going on in the shows! When the characters were dancing, Matthew danced and sang along - and when they cheered or got excited, Matthew clapped and got excited too! Go mental development! The only worrisome thing to me is the fact that he knows what a door knob does...AHHHH!

Wanna Be Just Like Dad!
what's going on here??
I'm not sure what is up with my blog, but the posts that I am putting up are not all there - some of them only have the title while others have half the pictures and some are just not visible on the page...if you want to see what's here, I think you'll just have to click around to find all of them...sorry about that!
Now What?
Matthew decided it would be a good idea to climb into his toy chest...but after he couldn't get back out...he still thought it would be a good idea! For some reason he loves to climb into it! He has also learned to climb up onto the couch all by himself - and he can get his leg up on the side of the tub (I'm really not sure how I feel about that one - it is a nasty bump on the head in the making!) But kids will be kids and need to be able to explore, right? Wish us luck in these years of exploration!
Barnyard Boo!
This past week-end, we took Matthew to Barnyard Boo - a petting zoo with lots of fun activities for the kidlins out at Thanksgiving Point. I think Matthew's favorite part of the whole thing was the wagon ride...which was pulled by a tractor (that's the part he was really excited about) We got to sit right in the front of the wagon behind the tractor. He also "won" a few prizes...some green plastic vampire teeth and a cute little bat eraser that is hidden from him - it is just the right size to be considered food! He also got to feed some tiny little goats - I don't remember what they were called, but they were Matthew sized! He was very excited to have them so close to him! He loves animals! (And no, we did not feed any fingers to the horses!)

New Family Picture
It has been quite a while since I added anything to the blog...well, better late than never, right? Our awesome sister Meagan is such a great photographer! And she agreed to take pictures of our little family before our Brooklyn is born and then after she is born! The before pictures are BEAUTIFUL!! Thanks so much Meg!

Sad, But So Funny...
Matthew has discovered the joys of running through the house either running from the dogs or chasing them. Well, today he was running through the kitchen just as fast as his little legs could take him and apparently did not realize his proximity to the table...I'm sure you can all guess what comes next. He ran head on into the table bouncing off of it and toppled onto the floor. Of course this was a great tragedy in his life and a crying fit immediately followed. There are no bumps, bruises or damages of any kind, so I just have to laugh about it...hopefully Matthew will someday find the humor as well!

Oh Boy...Scouts That Is
I was excited to finally be released from primary after being a teacher for about four years. Little did I know there was another calling coming my way - well our way. Charlie and I are now the Cub Scout leaders. Oh boy. I'm feeling thrown into the deep end and do not quite know what to expect! It will definitely be a change teaching kids during the week instead of on Sunday. I anticipate it will be a little easier! Just due to the fact that we don't have to keep them sitting still and quiet the whole time! Charlie has been told this is just the beginning of his scouts leader career! Ha ha! Lucky Charlie!

Bagels Bananas and Chocolate Milk
This morning I let Matthew have a piece of my plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese when his banana was just not enough. The cream cheese did NOT go over well at all, the piece was immediately spit out followed by a look of disgust and irritation. How dare I give him something so unappetizing! I decided to give him bagel without cream cheese which went over much better. After a few tiny bites, he wanted to take his own bite instead of me pulling little pieces off for him. Naturally he took a huge bite! He proceeded to chew this over sized bite - a few minutes later, he was throwing everything and screeching and finally buried his face in my chest and started to cry. Come to find out, he had bagel stuck to the roof of his mouth! I could not help just laughing! Which upset him even more! I was finally able to get him to let me stick my finger in his mouth to dislodge the offending piece of bagel. Because he was still upset, I let him take a sip of my chocolate milk - and now there is no going back!! He loved it, of course!

I realize that most of my posts (or all, I'm not sure...) have pictures. I've heard no complaint so far, so I'm going to assume that all is well in the blogging world concerning my pictures!! If anyone has pictures of family and/or friends that should be a part of this blog, send them to me!!! hannahmickelsen@gmail.com or brightgurl2@msn.com
Be sure to label the pictures so I know for sure who is in each picture!

The Cousins Playing
We recently took a trip to Rexburg for Drake's farewell - and stayed with Bryce, Natalie and Colton - Colton is about three months younger than Matthew, but they still had so much fun playing and stealing toys from each other! I still find it funny that toddlers would rather play with real things like pots and spoons than all those expensive toys we think they want! (Matthew is on the left and Colton is on the right)
